About
Justin Abee is an award-winning furniture and lighting designer, hailing from Oakland, California. He has design and construction in his blood, coming from a long line of architects and builders. Growing up in North Carolina, he gained hands-on experience working alongside his father and grandfather building and flipping homes. While it was not his initial intention to go into the design field, all it took was one furniture design class at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) for him to realize his true calling and passion.
Since graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Furniture Design and a minor in Sculpture, Justin has built a diverse and successful 20-year career. His expertise spans design engineering, project management, and furniture, lighting, and accessory design. Most notably, he served as the Director of Product Development for Woven (formerly Selamat Designs) from 2016 to 2023. During his tenure, he played an instrumental role in the company's strategic rebrand, facilitating innovative designs and overseeing the complex manufacturing of natural materials to launch the brand's heritage-inspired core collections.
Throughout his career, he has won multiple Pinnacle Awards from the International Society of Furniture Designers, Best in Show at High Point Market, and Best in Show at NY NOW by the International Furnishings and Design Association, along with countless award nominations. He has also designed private collections for Anthropologie, The Hudson's Bay Company, and Hollywood at Home, as well as licensed collections for Justina Blakeney, Morris & Co., and the Museums of New Mexico.
